Once all connections are repaired and individually insulated, bundle everything back with braided sheathing or quality electrical tape, following the harness’s original routing to avoid any new rub point.

Preventing further damage

Systematically check the harness’s mounting points after a repair — clamps, rubber cable guides, and protective covers, often responsible for the initial rubbing. A poorly secured harness will keep wearing at the same spot even after a careful repair if the cause of the rubbing isn’t addressed.
