Hill Climbs and Descents on a Dirt Bike: Two Opposite Skills
Climbing a hill, you shift your body forward to keep the front planted and transmit power without the bike looping out. Descending, you shift back and let engine braking do the main work, with the brakes only fine-tuning speed. Getting the climb right
On an uphill slope, weight naturally shifts backward under gravity, which lightens the front and can lift the front wheel if you open the throttle without compensating. The move is to shift your chest forward, sometimes significantly on very steep slopes, to reload the front and keep the bike tracking straight.

Engine braking, simply obtained by keeping the clutch engaged in an appropriate gear, does most of the slowing work downhill.
